Mike Green Q&A

Mike Green will be at the ESPN Zone downtown on Jan. 30 at 7pm for a Q&A with fans. From the release:

Capitals defenseman Mike Green will be at ESPN Zone on Wednesday, January 30th to talk with fans and share his insight on the Capitals’ play, just as the second half of the season gets underway. This dinner-time question-and-answer session offers fans a great opportunity to get personal, candid answers to all their hockey questions, while getting better acquainted with Green, one of the NHL’s top-scoring defensemen.

After the Q&A, which will be hosted by a Capitals broadcaster, Green will sign autographs for all the fans on hand for the event. Fans can also enter to win an autographed Capitals Dreamseat recliner, which will be given away after the final Q&A event later in the season.
Of course, Capital Addiction will cover the event. Which means, we are now officially soliciting one of our readers to attend and write a post about it for us.

goodbye, dear friend (yes, we mean the mohawk)

The Canadien Press has a feature on our very own Mike Green. They some kinda dumb stuff, like Green was "unheralded" (really? Weird, since he was a first round pick, was selected for the Young Stars game in his rookie year and has consistently been listed as a top prospect).

But the part that really bothered me (and this is a good measure of our values system here at Cap Addiction) is this:

Maybe it's that UFC vibe in him, but Green wore a Mohawk in the AHL. Not anymore.

"That was my two years in the minors when we went to the playoffs and I grew one for the playoffs," laughed Green. "But I guess you got to be a little more professional in this league."

Mike Green's mohawk is 99% of the reason I liked him last season, when he was playing bad- average hockey. The hawk made me like him, despite the poor defensive play and lack of initiative. It was a great do, among a team of men with Mom hair.

PS: All this should serve as a hint-hint to Jeff Schultz, who is still on my sh-t list, despite the goals.

Clymer & Green

Tarik profiles his "new favorite Cap" Ben Clymer, and Corey's got a handle on one of my faves, Mike Green (have you seen that fauxhawk? Its great). And, USA Today takes care of business with Michael Nylander.

weekend update

The Bears beat the crap beat the Manchester Monarchs this weekend in the first two games of the conference final. The total score for both games was 11-3. Caps defensive prospect Mike Green now has at least one point in four consecutive games, something Caps Coach Glen Hanlon will be happy about after Green was sent back down to Hershey this season to work on his offense. Green is considered to be a d-man with offensive upside, rather then a stay at home guy. Here is a great video of Green displaying some of that upside.

A lot of credit for these wins also goes to goalie Freddie Cassivi, who spent approximately half of game two with the Bears on the penalty kill. Games three and four take place in Manchester this week.
